Membership

What is a membership?
A membership entitles you to a voting right in the Mosque and also gives you certain discounts in the services provided by the mosque. Registration fee is currently £101.

Child membership
Once a child attains the age of 18 years old and in full time employment or claiming Job-seekers Allowance or other benefits, they will need to be registered as a new member. If the child is aged between 18 – 22 and is not employed or seeking JSA, then the membership will include a 50% discount.

If a child becomes a member late, i.e at the age of 22, will the membership fee be backdated?

We strongly encourage children to become members of masjid at the age of 18, as the contribution helps towards mosque maintenance. However, in such instance, please contact the acting committee.

Donated member
A donated member pays only the annual membership fee (currently £100) but receives the same benefits as a member, however, a donated member pays no registration fee so is not entitled to stand in the committee or vote.

How much is the standard membership fee?
The annual fee currently stands at £85.

What does my membership fee pay for?
Your membership fee helps pay for the following:

  • Imam and staff salary
  • Maintenance
  • Funeral expenses
  • Utility bills
  • Expenses towards religious programmes

Do I receive any benefits of becoming a member?
Yes, should you require the use of the community hall, you would
receive a 50% discount.

If you are undergoing a bereavement after a loss of a close person and you perform the fatiha (usually on the fourth day, of funeral by inviting friends and families) then the community hall will be provided for free.

Do I have to become a member?
Becoming a member is not mandatory, however you are then classed a non-member.

A non-member is excluded from the following:

  • Not entitled to vote
  • Does not receive mosque services
  • Pays increased charges for using the community hall
  • Not entitled to become a committee member
  • Pays an increased amount of madrassa fee (if any children)

What happens if I do not pay my fee?
If you are a member then you would lose your membership and would
have to re-apply and pay the initial registration fee.

If the non-member is aged 19 or over then a registration fee of £101 plus the annual fee of £85 will apply from his 18th birthday.

What if I forget to pay or make a late payment?
Please contact an acting committee member for advise.

What should I do if I wish to become a member?
